The Karnataka Forest department has recently launched an all-inclusive insurance plan to improve the security and comfort of the tourists coming to Nagarhole and Bandipur tiger reserves.
This effort will include tourists who come to these eco-tourism hotspots and will offer an insurance amount of ₹1 crore to the families of those tourists who lost their lives in various unfortunate events including wildlife encounters, officials said.
Mr. G Kumar Pushkar, the PCCF, has proclaimed a directive on June 22 nd , to all the five tiger reserve directors in Karnataka, recommending the implementation of the said project.
This new scheme will offer monetary support to the families, given, any loss of life happened within the premises of the forest, Harshakumar Chikkanaragunda, the director, Nagarhole tiger reserve, said this. He also added that the insurance plan would be available for the tourists coming to tiger reserves very soon.
Both Bandipur and Nagarhole tiger reserves, as per the officials, provide safari services, giving an opportunity to the tourists to submerge themselves in the charming backwoods of the region.
No previous registration is required, under this ground-breaking plan, just having a safari ticket is enough to access the benefits of this insurance plan. Jungle Lodges and Resorts, has been providing insurance coverage to all tourists as well.
