To help tourism, G20 & UNWTO introduce dashboard

Before the G20 Leaders’ Summit, scheduled on 9 and 10 September, UNWTO has worked with the Presidency through the Ministry of Tourism, India, on the G20 Tourism and SDGs Dashboard. Midway between the 2015 launch of the 2030 Agenda and the target to achieve it, this tool will assist to encourage the contribution of the sector to speed up the progress towards attaining the 17 SDGs.

The Dashboard displays the pillars of the Goa Tourism Roadmap as a way for accomplishing the SDGs around the five main areas fixed for the Tourism Working Group, like Digitalization; Skills; Green Tourism; Tourism MSMEs and Destination Management.

The Dashboard of UNWTO-G20 has more than 20 case studies covering these five genres and on a regular basis it will be updated during 2023 and in the forthcoming years as well, offering exclusive reference for the policies related to tourism and initiatives in their contribution to the SDGs.

Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General, says that G20 countries exhibits over 70% of tourism worldwide. Their leadership in the alteration of the sector is critical.

The SDGs Dashboard and G20 Tourism is a concrete consequence of G20 Tourism Working Group and a tool for reference for all. UNWTO is quite satisfied to have collaborated with India’s Ministry of Tourism to make this happen.
