HTA awards agreement for destination stewardship

HTA awards agreement for destination stewardship

Today, the Hawai’i Tourism Authority, the state agency entrusted for managing Hawaii tourism holistically, received three contracts to move forward Hawaiʻi’s tourism sector and develop toward regenerative tourism via destination management and visitor education.

On February 13, 2023, RFP 23-08 was issued, looking for a set of services comprising post-arrival education for the visitors; administrative help for HTA community programs like Kūkulu Ola, Aloha ʻĀina, and Community Enrichment; technical help and ability building for community associations and local businesses; and technology-enabled solutions to handle the hotspots rightly.

The award was given to the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement. The worth of the new contract -$27,141,457 for the first 2.5 year tenure with an alternative for two one-year extensions, is planned to start from June 20th, 2023.

On February 13, 2023, RFP 23-03 was issued, looking for brand and marketing management services in the United States, the largest visitor source market of Hawai’i. The solicitation requests for a pre-arrival communications program. This program would tutor the visitors with precise information in terms of safety, and following respectful, and mindful travel agenda.

Last year in 2022, the United States visitors spent almost $16.2 billion in Hawaiʻi. This was an average $231 per visitor per day.

The award was presented to the Visitors & Convention Bureau of Hawaiʻi, which will carry on its work on behalf of HTA as the Tourism United States of Hawaiʻi.
