Some of the same reasons that they’re witnessing lesser number of scallopers in Citrus County this season concern to the tourism numbers as a whole.
Visitor counts are on a decline to some extent however there’s nothing to get frightened about, as per an analyst. For the last few years, Citrus which had been welcoming record number of tourists is just returning to the levels of pre-COVID times and seeing more normal trends.
This isn’t a bad thing, said at their recent meeting the members of Citrus County Tourist Development Council.What they’re witnessing is a little bit of gentleness as they head through the summer, said the director of Quantitative Research for Research Data Services, Anne Wittine.
Wittine gave the TDC a small picture of the conditions of tourism in Citrus County. She added that travelers are quite worried about the financial system and the tremendous heat in some regions of the country is becoming a major factor.
The job of the TDC is to draw tourists to Citrus County and get heads in beds, which means in local hotels, they will stay all night. She mentioned that in Citrus County, one overnight visitor equals $704 of economic impact.
Wittine from January through March 2023 gave this outline in terms of the average overnight visitor putting up in local commercial lodgings.
