Airbnb's Substantial Contribution: Boosting Ireland's Tourism and Economy
Airbnb has said that expenditure connected to its platform signified 10.5% of total global tourism-
linked expenditure in Ireland last year.
Research appointed by the temporary letting site evaluates Airbnb’s entire input in Ireland’s gross
domestic product at more than €500m last year, with native industries, shops and restaurants profiting from tourists making use of Airbnb lodging.
As per a report, Airbnb backed nearly 5,000 jobs all over the country, accounting for 6% of all nights in
paid lodging in Ireland last year.
Derek Nolan, the chief of public policy at Airbnb Ireland said that €500m of aid would have been
currency that their visitors would have paid on hosts in Ireland. However, that money could also be spent in domestic cafés and pubs, as well as restaurants.
