Shortage of funds affects tourism development in Rajasthan
The Rajasthan tourism division fixed a new standard in India by providing benefits of industry rank rendered to the segment. However, when it comes to evolving and preserving tourist spots, there isn’t much that has been done in the last three-four years.
Tourism division sources mentioned scarcity of money to facilitate even authorized funds as the key reason for little utilization. Whether it is expansion works at places or advertising and marketing, the expenditure dropped miserably short of the authorized quantity, largely since money was not accessible.
For instance, the tourism division had approved Rs. 65 crore for improving amenities and arrangement at tourist places during the period of 2022-23, but it could spend merely 11% of that by December. In 2021-22, Rs. 32 crore was approved, but just Rs. 11. 88 crore was used.
Though the Rajasthan government had declared Rs. 500 crore as tourism expansion supply for the last
three years, it did not make any distribution to the quantity. Rather, RTDC had to increase lends from
monetary organizations against its assets to donate to the deposit. Thus far, the tourism division has gathered nearly Rs. 250 crore, Rs. 165 crore via lends with some distribution from the finance division.
