IHHA requests forming district-wise list of old buildings
The Indian Heritage Hotels Association has urged forforming a district-wise list of palaces, old bungalows, forts and mansions for boosting cultural conservation and heritage tourism. The association’s president termed them as ‘windows to the past.’
The association headRandhirVikram Singh saidthat states can get inspired from Rajasthan, who is a prime candidatewhen comes to heritage tourism, for knowing the importance and worth of heritage structuresalong with their renovation and reuse.
Mr. Singh said that heritage hotels are not simply converted from forts, palaces and ancient houses. They are, at the same time, places to understand culture and the actualcivilizations of the regions where they are located. He said that it is important to capitalize on theastonishingprosperity that India is blessed with.
The iconic Rambagh Palace is now anextravagant heritage hotel in Jaipur. The first step toward cultural conservation while generating a business model of heritage tourism is forming a directory or record of heritage assets and tourism sites around them for each district in India, said Mr. Singh.
The castle was built in 1755 and later converted into a hotel in 1980 by his family, who were the former native rulers of MandawaThikana in Rajasthan.
