The chair of New Zealand Māori Tourism explained...
The chair of New Zealand Māori Tourism explained that it could be at least five years before tourism is back to the levels of the pre-Covid times.
Dale Stephens says his board has been looking at factors impacting the upturn of the industry.
They range from inflation of the food price, dearth of staff members, the value of the US dollar to development on free trade contracts, natural calamities and ignored infrastructure.
Mr. Stephens says that for them, big problems are there to struggle, as for them to get the back up of the tourism to where it was in 2019, lot of work needs to be done and they think it’s going to be a five to seven year program to get the sector revived not just to the same altitude of putea however in fact changing the type of tourism so it’s more sustainable, and causes less danger to their natural environment and it attracts greater opportunities to all of their people.
