SWISS to conduct special Tel Aviv flight for FDFA on Tuesday 10 October

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will operate a special flight from Zurich to Tel Aviv and back in cooperation with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) on Tuesday 10 October. The flight is intended to offer Swiss nationals in Israel the opportunity of a prompt return to their home country.

SWISS flight LX 7354 will depart from Zurich at 12:15 CET and arrive in Tel Aviv at 17:20 local time. The return westbound LX 7355 flight will depart from Tel Aviv at 18:15 local time, with arrival back in Zurich at 21:35 CET. Rostered for the flight is an Airbus A321 seating 219 passengers. The flight is only bookable via a special phone hotline whose details have been communicated to Swiss nationals resident or currently in Israel.

Safety of passengers and crews is paramount priority

The safety of its passengers and crews is SWISS’s paramount priority. In view of the current situation in Israel, SWISS has cancelled all its scheduled services to and from Tel Aviv up to and including Saturday 14 October. We regret having to do so. We are monitoring developments closely and remain in close contact with the relevant authorities. The decision on whether and when to resume scheduled SWISS services between Switzerland and Israel will be taken on the basis thereof in due course.

Provisions eased for tickets to and from Tel Aviv

We fully understand the situation of the SWISS customers affected by the above flight cancellations, all of whom will have the price of their tickets fully refunded. SWISS customers who had been planning to travel between 7 and 22 October will also have the price of their ticket refunded provided it was issued on or before 7 October. Customers who have purchased their ticket via a travel agency or any other third party are asked to contact the seller for their ticket refund.

Kerala Tourism receives Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award

Kerala Tourism received the prominent Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award in the group of
‘Marketing Campaign (state & city – Global)’, marking an authentic ratification of the state’s continued efforts toward planning ground-breaking creativities to draw tourists from far and near.


S Prem Krishnan, Kerala Tourism additional director (General) received the felicitation at the PATA Travel
Mart 2023 from Peter Semone, the chairman of PATA. The event was organized at the International Exhibition Convention Center (IECC) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

Nepal enthusiastically takes part in PATA Travel Mart 2023

At this year’s PATA Travel Mart (PTM 2023), Nepal’s prominent attendance was witnessed. This prestigious event was organized by the Tourism Ministry, of the Indian Government. The event saw more than 1,000 representatives dropping in from 46 worldwide destinations. Among them were 159 sellers from 92 establishments and 15 destinations, along with 196 buyers from 191 establishments and 38 source markets.


PTM 2023 enticed more than 350 domestic and worldwide pupils along with fresh tourism experts from
10 local and global universities inclusive of the PATA Youth Symposium happening on the 5 th of this month at the International Exhibition Convention Center (IECC).

Vistara, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines hopes to greatly enhance the effectiveness of flight planning and operations, reduce fuel consumption, and cut carbon emissions by 15,000 tons annually.


According to Sumesh Patel, President, Asia Pacific, SITA, India’s aviation sector is expanding at a breakneck pace, and it is thrilling to assist top airlines like Vistara with solutions that boost their productivity, drastically cut fuel use, and support initiatives for more environmentally friendly air travel. SITA OptiClimb® is the first machine-learning technology in the market that offers personalized climb profile recommendations for every flight and uses prior flight data to anticipate fuel usage during the climb out. By doing this, Vistara will be able to save an average of 80 tons of fuel per year per aircraft and cut carbon emissions by about 250 tons annually. Annual fuel savings for Vistara’s total fleet are predicted to be more than 5,000 tons, which will result in a more than 15,000-ton drop in carbon emissions.

United Airlines on a venture to buy 110 Planes From Airbus and Boeing

United Airlines announced plans on Tuesday to buy 110 new airplanes, expanding its bet that the travel business would grow in the coming years even as evidence mounts that demand for flights is weakening right now.


The airline plans to buy 50 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a twin-aisle plane, and 60 single-aisle Airbus A321neos. Deliveries will begin in five years. United did not disclose the value of the order. Based on list prices, the order would be worth at least $19 billion, but airlines typically negotiate steep discounts when ordering dozens of planes.


On Tuesday, United Airlines revealed intentions to purchase 110 new aircraft, increasing its wager that the travel industry would increase in the years to come despite mounting evidence that current flying demand is waning.


The airline intends to purchase 60 single-aisle Airbus A321neos and 50 twin-aisle Boeing 787 Dreamliners. In five years, deliveries will start. United withheld information about the order’s value. The deal would be worth at least $19 billion based on list pricing, but when ordering numerous planes, airlines frequently bargain for significant discounts.


United’s chief executive, Scott Kirby was convinced that their our strategy is the right one as they continue to add new, larger aircraft to take full advantage of the growing flying opportunities both internationally and domestically. Due to the restricted number of airport gates and runways, the lack of manpower at air traffic control facilities, and general congestion, United will be able to transport more passengers without having to operate more flights thanks to the new, larger aircraft. On average, United offered 104 seats on each flight departing from North America in 2019. It anticipates that number to increase to more than 145 by 2027.


The acquisition adds to a number of sizable orders. Some of those aircraft have already begun to arrive at United, and a total of 761 more, including those from the order placed on Tuesday, are anticipated to be delivered over the following ten years. The planes will be used to upgrade and replace the airline’s outdated fleet, which is the oldest among the four major American carriers. The airline will be able to cut costs by adding additional seats on each journey. Older aircraft often use more fuel than newer ones.

According to Boeing and Airbus, the aircraft in United’s latest order burn 20 to 25 percent less fuel per passenger than comparable, older aircraft.


Andrew Nocella, United’s chief commercial officer, said “United placed its largest aircraft order, for 270 planes, in 2021, followed by another order last year for 100 Dreamliners. Those orders allowed the airline to secure the best possible deal terms”.


However, businesses like United have stated that they are optimistic about their future, citing the robust and ongoing demand for international flights. There are indications that ticket demand, especially on domestic routes, may be decreasing. The cost of jet fuel has also recently increased far more quickly than anticipated. Major airlines, beginning with Delta Air Lines next week, are anticipated to provide more information about their operations when they report financial results for the third quarter.
