TAT and AIS 5G Unveil ‘Welcome Back to Thailand’ Initiative for Tourists

To celebrate the forthcoming peak travel season, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with AIS 5G, has launched the “Welcome Back to Thailand” campaign, which offers a specially-branded “Amazing Thailand SIM” card with a one-day trial of 8GB of maximum speed internet and a variety of travel benefits. The promotion is active from October 17, 2023, to March 31, 2024.

Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific mentioned that this collaboration with AIS 5G and other partners highlights TAT’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers, utilizing the digital transformation to its advantage. He said “The launch of the ‘Welcome Back to Thailand’ campaign corresponds with the Thai government’s quick-win measures to boost tourism income through the ease of travelling policy by revising and facilitating the visa application procedure and exempting the visa fee for tourists.”

In 2023 so far, Thailand has greeted 20.3 million international visitors, with a significant
portion, 14.7 million visitors, originating from the Asia-Pacific regions like China, Malaysia, and India. In addition to giving Chinese and Kazakh nationals a five-month visa exemption from 25 September 2023 to 29 February 2024, the TAT is maximizing the growth potential of the Asia-Pacific markets by offering the Amazing Thailand SIM card’s convenience in terms of communication systems and digital services.

A partnership between TAT’s offices in Asia and the South Pacific, online travel agencies
(OTAs), airlines, and other tourism partners will make one million Amazing Thailand SIM
cards available to tourists.

With the help of the TAT’s partners across Asia and the South Pacific, travelers can
participate in the “Welcome Back to Thailand” campaign by booking travel to Thailand. In the airports of Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang), Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Samui, they will be given a QR code to use to claim a free SIM card.

Upon activation, visitors with the SIM will enjoy various privileges, including free travel
insurance from Bangkok Insurance, welcome packages from Central Group, discounts for online shopping at King Power, shopping privileges at Siam Piwat’s malls, discounts at Singha Park Chiang Rai, special self-drive car rental rates from Sixt Car Rental, reduced rates for travel activities via TAGTHAi app, and exclusive offers from Grab Thailand.
