Malabar’s Tourism Sector Set to Flourish: 36 Projects Unveiled

The tourism industry in Malabar receives a significant uplift with 36 development projects totaling Rs 86.75 crore set to be initiated in the upcoming years. Within five years, all of these initiatives, including the massive coastal-ecotourism projects, are anticipated to be finished. Following the election of the second Pinarayi administration in 2021, the majority of these projects received approval.

Projects like the Kadalundi floating restaurant, ‘Beypore and Beyond’ development, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer memorial, and the walkway project at Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary are designed to significantly attract tourists. The Sarovaram Biopark’s second phase of development will cost Rs 2.19 crore. Along with this, projects to safeguard Thikkodi Beach for Rs 93 lakh and the Malabar Literary Circuit for Rs 58.37 lakh are in the works.

Kozhikode celebrates the successful completion of eight major tourism-related projects, including The Natural Learning Centre at Sarovaram, Bhat Road Bliss Park, and the renovation of Kuttichira Lake.

The Tourism Minister highlighted the significance of the new projects, stating that they would enhance the department’s tourism potential. He also stated that with the implementation of this project, more tourists are likely to visit this area.
