Exceeding the Statue of Unity and Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront has created a record by attracting the highest number of international tourists all over the state in the initial eight months of 2023.
In Gujarat, Sabarmati Riverfront has become the most preferred tourist site with almost 1,07,969 global visitors coming to the place till August 2023. It’s a huge jump from 67,000 international tourists from 2022, as pre the data from Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited. The Statue of Unity created a record of 25,291 overseas tourists, it’s a minor jump from August 2022 when 22,000 tourists from abroad had visited the site.
Additionally, the city of Ahmedabad has been included in the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Cities, has become the main choice for overseas tourists who are coming to Gujarat. Out of the 15.4 lakh tourists from abroad who came to Gujarat in the eight months of this year, the highest number 3.53 lakh have visited the state capital. The figure was 3.63 lakh in 2022.
Before the World Tourism Day i.e., today, a declaration issued by the government on Tuesday which said that the tourism sector which had come to a sudden halt because of the pandemic has made a major comeback in two years.
