Travel disruption in London
Travel will be hampered by the coronation of King Charles III in London, where hundreds of thousands of people are anticipated to congregate.
For street parties, more than 3,000 roads will be closed in England. Around the 2 km coronation route in London, significant portions of Victoria, Mayfair, Whitehall, and St James’s Park will be closed starting on Tuesday. When security guards begin a three-day strike on Thursday, travellers at Heathrow Airport may also encounter delays.
From 4 p.m. on Tuesday until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and once again from 7 p.m. on Friday until no later than 9 p.m. on Saturday, the roads around the coronation path will be blocked. The weekend is a prime time for using public transport, according to Andy Lord, the commissioner of transport for London
Anyone planning to travel to central London has been advised by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport to take public transportation rather than driving, and to be prepared to take detours if necessary. Due to road closures, some bus routes may be detoured, and some stations may experience sudden brief closures for safety reasons.
Meanwhile, residents in Harrow are gearing up for a weekend of celebrations with street parties planned across the borough. With roads closed off to traffic, residents are set to mark the occasion with food, music, and festivities in their local communities.
