Central government launching the Vibrant Village Programme
For driving rural tourism, the central government is launching the Vibrant Village Programme. As part of this enterprise, 17 villages along the border with China have been chosen by the Indian government. They would be advanced into tourism places.
These 17 villages along the border comprise the 663 villages, which will be refurbished in the first stage. The main focus will be given on developing amenities for tourists along with improved connectivity.
The border villages designated for this purpose are situated in Ladakh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh,
Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The Union Tourism Ministry has focused on homestays and adventure tourism as the primary areas for
developing the first 17 villages selected for the preliminary project.
As per the supposed system, 120 homestays will be built or reorganized in the villages of Uttarakhand. The same would be implemented in other villages too.
Trekking routes would also be created in various parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. This aspiring scheme also aims to deliver hygienic drinking water, year-round road entrance, electricity, mobile network and internet connectivity, together with the expansion of tourism hubs.
