Latest findings from Angus & Associates’ regarding Views on Tourism researchdisclose animportantsurgewith regard toglobal visitors in New Zealand.
With the easing of border rules and a recommencement of global travel, optimistic feelings toward international tourism haverecovered in New Zealand.
Since 2018, Angus & Associates have been carrying on their ‘Views on Tourism’ study in New Zealand and Australia.
The 2022 final report displays support for worldwide tourism in New Zealand at its uppermost level since the beginning of the survey. For the first time, the level of backing is equivalentto what was witnessed in Australia.
Animportantcriterion from Views on Tourism is the Tourism Approval Rating. It studies both the positive and negative effects of tourism on native communities, to provide ageneral score.
As per the International Tourism Approval Rating in New Zealand, there was a continuousdeterioration from a net positive 42 in the year 2018, to a net positive 28 in the year 2021. However, last year, this went up to a score of 44.Australia is almostthe same, with a score of 45.
Chris Roberts, the Managing Director of Angus & Associates, said that the researchshows that backingin New Zealand for world-wide tourism is supported by two aspects – communities with understanding about the constructiveeffect from the comeback of visitors, and evading some of the pain points that becameobviousbefore the pandemic.
