SA tourism greets minister’s decision to dismiss tourism board
The tourism segmentin South Africa has greeted Minister Patricia De Lille’s decision to dismiss the SA Tourism Board.
The closure, legitimatelyestimated to happenon Friday, comes after the uproarconcerning the R1 billion English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur fundingcontract, ineffectiveness, and other accusations.
Average South Africans also criticized the contract.
De Lille said that a temporary board would be selected by the end of this week to handlestuffs until the organization has a new board.
De Lille wrote a letter to Thozamile Botha, theboard chairperson on the 6th of this month.
She gave the SA Tourism Board time till this weekfor stating why she should not close it in the midst of a series of severeaccusationsconcerning its members.
De Lille said that so far, she had not got any representation, even though the deadline has gone away.
Out of 11 board members, eightput down their papers last week, counting the chairperson.
