Nepal, South Korea agree to work together to promote Korean tourists to Nepal
Nepal and South Korea have decided to collaborate in order to boost Korean tourists visiting Nepal.
On Friday, during the sixth meeting of the bilateral consultation mechanism in Seoul, officials resolved to look into the potential of signing a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the Nepali Embassy in Seoul, the Nepali side has asked that Nepali airlines to conduct direct flights to the Korean capital city.
According to the embassy, the two delegations assessed the overall state of bilateral relations between Nepal and South Korea and exchanged views on promoting cooperation in various areas such as trade, investment, employment, energy, technology transfer, education, tourism, culture, and people-to-people relations.
The officials also discussed and decided to honour the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties by staging a variety of events, including high-level visits in 2024.
According to the statement, the Korean side has committed to urge its business community to take the chance to invest in Nepal in several areas, including hydropower.
Nepal also demanded that the Korean government enhance the number of quotas available to Nepal and safeguard the well-being of Nepali employees.
Lok Bahadur Thapa, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ North East Asia division, and Seo Min Jeong, Director General at Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau, led their respective delegations to the conference.
